Add a new collection

To add a new collection:

1. From the Module Menu select Maintenance, Circulation and then Collections.
2. Click New.
3. Specify the ID and Description.
4. Do one of the following.
   • Leave the Parent collection as DEFAULT if it is not going to be grouped.
   • Select a collection from the Parent box to group this new collection under an existing one.
   • Check the Collection Group checkbox if you want to create a new group collection.
5. Click OK.
6. The settings from the parent collection are automatically inherited in the new one so you'll need to disinherit the parameter(s) you want to change. You can do this by:
   • clearing the checkbox to the left of the parameter or
   • clearing the Inherit from parent checkbox or
   • clicking Inherit None.
7. Set up the parameters you want, then click Save or Save & Close.

About grouping a collection under a parent

You can group collections under a parent if you wish. The parent rather than the child will then be used for policies. For example, you might want to create a parent collection of DVDs which includes Adult DVDs, Teen DVDs and Junior DVDs. You can then create a loan policy which applies to all DVD collections.
