Check loan history

You can specify whether to check the borrower's loan loan history when you try to issue an item using the parameter Check loan history. This parameter can be specified in three places:

Circulation General Parameters.
Borrower category.
The borrower's registration details.

Here's how they work.

General parameters	Yes	The setting of Check loan history in the borrower category and registration details will determine which borrowers have their history checked.
	No	No checking.
Borrower category	Yes	Borrowers in this category who have Check loan history selected in the registration details will have their history checked. If the title is in their history, i.e. if they have previously borrowed the title, then the LOANHIST alert will be displayed.
	No	No borrowers in this category have their history checked (even if Check loan history is selected in the registration details).
	All	All borrowers in this category have their history checked (even if Check loan history is NOT selected in the registration details). If the title is in their history, i.e. if they have previously borrowed the title, then the LOANHIST alert will be displayed.

General Parameters

To set Check loan history in the General Parameters:

From the Module Menu select Maintenance, Circulation and then General Parameters.
Set Check loan history to Yes or No.
Click Save or Save & Close.

Null means the same as No.

Borrower category

Select the checkbox to the left of a parameter to inherit the setting from the default borrower category. Clear this checkbox if you want to change the setting for the selected borrower category. You can also click Inherit All and Inherit None to inherit or disinherit the settings for all parameters.

To set Check loan history in the borrower category:

From the Module Menu select Maintenance, Circulation and then Borrower Categories.
Select the category you want from the list.
On the Details tab, set Check loan history to Yes or No.
Click Save or Save & Close.

Null means the same as No.
