Allocate reserved items automatically

To specify whether reserved items are automatically allocated to the next borrower:
- From the Module Menu select Maintenance, Circulation and then General Parameters.
- Set Allocate reserved items automatically to Yes or No.

When a reserved item is returned you’ll be prompted whether or not to allocate it to the next borrower. |

When a reserved item is returned it will be allocated automatically to the next borrower without prompting the user. |
- Click Save or Save & Close.

Null means the same as No. |
Items will NOT be automatically allocated if there is an exception of some kind. For example, say that the item being returned is overdue, there’s an overdue fine, and you’ve selected the check boxes Waive fines and Display fine in the Local Settings. In this example, a message will be displayed with check boxes for allocating the reservation as well as waiving the fine.
If you set Allocate reserved items automatically to No then it is a good idea not to set the Privilege for suppressing display for the RSVCONF alert (the alert for confirming the allocation of a reserved item). If your privilege level is higher than the one specified for RSVCONF then the alert won’t be displayed even if Allocate reserved items automatically is set to No.
