    Reduction rate for loan period
    In This Topic
Select the checkbox to the left of a parameter to inherit the setting from the default policy. Clear this checkbox if you want to change the setting for the selected policy. You can also click Inherit All and Inherit None to inherit or disinherit the settings for all parameters.

When the number of Reservations/copy for reducing loan period or Reservations/title for reducing loan period reach their limit then the Reduction rate for loan period is used to automatically reduce the loan period

For example, say that the Reduction rate for loan period is set to 80% and that the Loan period for days is 10. The loan period will be reduced to 8 days if the number of reservations per copy is equal to or greater than the Reservations/copy for reducing loan period or if the number of reservations per title is equal to or greater than the Reservations/title for reducing loan period.

If specifying both the copy and title reduction parameters, whichever is reached first (i.e. whichever is lower) will trigger the reduction rate.

To specify the reduction rate parameters:

    1. From the Module Menu select Maintenance, Circulation, Policies and then Loan Policies.
    2. Select the policy from the list that is to have the reduction period applied.
    3. Set the Reduction rate for loan period to a percentage.
    4. Set Reservations/copy for reducing loan period and/or Reservations/title for reducing loan period.
    5. Press Tab or Enter, or click anywhere on the screen to enable the Save options.
    6. If there are records linked to the policy then you'll be prompted whether you want to update the existing policy or create a new one and deactivate the existing one.
      • Click Update if you want to update the existing policy. The records linked to the policy will be updated.
      • Click Create New if you want to create a new policy. The records linked to the existing (deactivated) policy will not be updated.
    7. Click Save or Save & Close
Standing reservations on serials will not affect the reservation reduction period until a new issue is checked in. Any reservations created at the issue level - as a result of the standing reservation being placed at the title level - will affect the reduction period as normal.
