Reservations are placed as normal via Circulation, Staff Enquiry or the OPAC.

If there is an available item, this will be automatically assigned when the reservation is placed — i.e. you do not need to wait for the scheduled task to run. Note that for an item to be assigned when the reservation is placed, it must be at the pickup location or at a location in a tier where the Elapsed days and Elapsed minutes are zero.

Placing a reservation will refresh all the current assignments for the same bibliographic record, so those other assignments may be automatically completed and other items assigned.

What is an "available" item?

An item is considered to be available if:

• Its home location is the location you are assessing.
• It is in a collection that allows reservations.
• It is not on loan, allocated, intransit or shelf check assigned.
• It is an issuable type and accessioned.
• It matches the reservation criteria, i.e. collection, location and/or item.
• It does not have a copy status that would block allocation.
• It could be issued, e.g. the loan policy that would be used allows issues.
