    Charges for borrower categories
    In This Topic
Select Inherit from default to inherit the settings from the default borrower category. Clear this option if you want to add, edit or delete the settings for the selected borrower category.

    Add a charge

To specify the charges that apply to a borrower category:

    1. From the Module Menu select Maintenance, Circulation and then Borrower Categories.
    2. Select the category you want from the list.
    3. Click the Charges tab.
    4. Click Add.
    5. Select the Charge code and Charge type (charges, fines or points).
    6. Select the Deposit level.
      • Staff only, when payment made. This specifies that the charge/points will only be deducted from the borrower’s account when it is manually paid off in the Charges dialog.
      • Deduct automatically. This specifies that money or points will be automatically deducted from the borrower’s account when there is sufficient money/points. The charges/points will not appear as current on the borrower’s account, but as previous charges on the transaction pane in Circulation.
      • Deduct automatically, check money on account when added. Staff will be notified if the charge/points are more than what is on the borrower’s deposit account. If there is sufficient amount/points available, this will be deducted automatically from the borrower’s deposit account.
    7. Select the Invoice borrower option if the charge is to be included on invoices.
    8. Click Save or Save & Close.
Something to note about invoicing overdue charges. We only send invoices for overdue items that have been returned. We don’t send invoices for overdue items that are still on loan.

    3. Click the Charges tab, and then do one of the following.
      • Click Edit to edit an existing charge, and then Update.
