You can use the Holidays extend hold period parameter to extend the loan period over public holidays, i.e. the hold period will increase by the number of public holidays spanned by the original hold period. Here’s an example.

Public holiday on 03/01 and 04/01.

Item is returned on 01/01.

Hold period is 4 days.

If Holidays extend hold period is No then the due date is 14/10.

01/01	02/01	03/01	04/01	05/01	06/01	07/01
Item returned		Holiday	Holiday	Hold period ends

If Holidays extend hold period is Yes then the due date is 16/10.

01/01	02/01	03/01	04/01	05/01	06/01	07/01
Item returned		Holiday	Holiday			Hold period ends

To set the parameter:

1. From the Module Menu select Maintenance, Circulation and then General Parameters.
2. Set Holidays extend hold period to Yes or No.
3. Click Save or Save & Close.
