To specify the holidays for a location:
Holidays you specify at one level are automatically inherited by their children. For example, the holidays you specify at the institution level are automatically inherited and used at the branches in the institution. So any changes you make to the start/end date or description for the parent will also be made automatically to these holidays in the child.
If you don’t want a holiday specified at the parent level to be used by a child then select Block at this location at the child level. You'll see "Blocked" against the holiday on the Holidays tab. Holidays inherited from the parent will not be editable for the child level, except to override the description or to block.
If a holiday is blocked at the BRANCH level then this setting is inherited by the LINE level, i.e. it is also blocked at the LINE level.
You can’t delete a holiday from the child if the same holiday appears in the parent (since the holidays in the parent are automatically inherited).
You can set up a holiday period for a number of days. For example, the library might not be open over the Christmas so you might set the Start Date to 25 December and the End Date to 26 December.
Any new locations you create will automatically inherit the holidays and blocked holidays from the parent.
Although holidays are inherited from the institution level, you can also add branch specific holidays at the branch level. Simply click on New, and add that holiday.
The holidays are displayed in the OPAC when you view the location details.
