Add, edit or print routing lists

You can use a routing list to circulate items to borrowers or staff.
Add a new routing list
To add a new routing list:
- From the Module Menu select Circulation, Other and then Routing Lists.
- Enter the ID, description, header and footer.
If you enter the ID of an existing routing list you'll be prompted whether you want to retrieve this record, and you can click Yes to edit it.
- Do one of the following.
- Select the Controlled routing option. This is the option to choose if you’ll be accessioning the items, and then issuing and returning them at the Front Desk. “Controlled” routing means that a reservation will be placed for each borrower on the list when the item is accessioned. The item is allocated when its returned at the Front Desk. The loan period is taken from the loan policy when the item is issued.
- Specify a number of days in the Loan period box. If you’re not accessioning, issuing and returning the items then this is “uncontrolled” routing, i.e. there’s no reservation for the borrower, no loan policy (and hence no loan period). The items are simply circulated manually. In this case you might want to specify the Loan period here in the routing list. This period is shown on the printed routing list as a guide to how long each borrower should hold the item.
- Select an Item status if you want to set a status against an item when it's being routed.
- Add borrowers to the list, i.e. click Add, find each borrower you want and then click Select Record to add him/her to the list. You can add a note for each borrower if you wish.
To delete a borrower from the list, click to select the borrower and then click Delete.
Click Move Up or Move Down to move the selected borrower up or down in the list.
- Click Save or Save & Close to save the new routing list.
Edit a routing list
To edit an existing routing list:
- From the Module Menu select Enquiry, Circulation and then Routing List.
- Find the list you want, and click Edit Record from the Full Display.
- Make your changes, and then click Save or Save & Close.
Print a routing list
To print a routing list:
- From the Module Menu select Enquiry, Circulation and then Routing List.
- Find the list you want, and click Edit Record from the Full Display.
- Click Print List.
You can also print the routing list for a particular item from the Holdings Summary tab in Item Maintenance.
