    Alerts can be displayed when you try to access a borrower or when you try to carry out a transaction for a borrower, for example, issue or renew an item. The alert parameters define the text to be displayed, the staff privilege level required to be able to override an alert, whether an alert blocks transactions in OPAC, etc.

    Alert text for OPAC users

    The text to be displayed to OPAC users. If you leave this null then the Alert text for staff will be used for OPAC users too.

    Alert text for self service terminals

    The text to be displayed at self service terminals. If you leave this null then the Alert text for OPAC will be used and if this null then the Alert text for staff will be used.

    Alert text for staff

    The text to be displayed to staff.

    Block transaction at self service terminals

    Set this to Yes if the transaction causing the alert is to be blocked at self service terminals.

    Block transaction in OPAC

    Set this to Yes if the transaction causing the alert is to be blocked in OPAC.

    Critical alert - system override

    Specifies whether this is a system controlled critical alert. This setting overrides all other settings and cannot be altered.

    Critical alert - user defined

    Specifies whether this is a critical alert. Critical alerts cannot be overridden.

    Privilege for overriding alert

    Privilege level required to be able to override the alert.

    Privilege for suppressing display

    The alert will only be displayed if the user's privilege level is less than the one specified here.

    Suppress alert at self service terminals

    Set this to Yes and the alert will not be displayed at self service terminals.

    Suppress alert in OPAC

    Set this to Yes and the alert will not be displayed in OPAC.

    Validate transaction in OPAC

    Displays a prompt to OPAC users who can then choose whether or not to continue with the transaction.
