Call number prefix

Select the checkbox to the left of a parameter to inherit the setting from the parent collection. Clear this checkbox if you want to change the setting for the selected collection. You can also click Inherit All and Inherit None to inherit or disinherit the settings for all parameters.

For each collection you can specify a call number prefix. When you select a collection in Item Maintenance, this prefix is inserted automatically. This can be overridden in Item Maintenance for individual items if required.

For example, say that items in the RL collection have a call number prefix "REF". An item in this collection with a class number 220.5 and a suffix ENN will therefore have a call number REF 220.5 ENN.

To specify the call number prefix for a collection:

From the Module Menu select Maintenance, Circulation and then Collections.
Select the collection you want from the list.
On the General tab, set the Call number prefix.
Press Tab or click anywhere on the screen to enable the Save options.
Click Save or Save & Close.

Reset item prefix

If you change the call number prefix for a collection, you can click the Reset item prefix button on the General tab to update the prefixes for items in the selected collection. The prefix is not updated if the item has Prefix overwrite selected.
