    Enable online registration

This feature requires server version 10.6.1 or higher.

Checking this option will show the online registration link in the navbar and login sections. This option is enabled by default. Disabling this option will hide all other online registration parameters.

    Conditions of membership

This feature requires server version 10.6.1 or higher.

This formatted text box allows library staff to customise the content of the interstitial 'Register' page. Traditionally, this page contains information of the terms and conditions of library membership, fines, and other relevant detail.

    Navbar label

This feature requires server version 10.6.1 or higher.

This option allows users to set the text for the link to the online registration form in the navbar.

To set the text for the link to the online registration form in the login dropdown, see the HTML Configurator Login section.

    Registration defaults

Default borrower home branch and category

If default branch and category are defined in the configurator, borrowers will not be able to select their preferred branch or category when registering (these fields will be absent from the registration form).

If these fields are left null in the configurator, the borrower may select :

    Default borrower status and trap

If the library would like to apply a status or trap to borrowers who have registered online (to identify them for action, limit activity, or otherwise) specify the details here.

For information on configuring traps, see the Borrower traps article. To add a new Borrower status, see the ZBC table in Table Manager.

    Checking for duplicate registrations

At the point of registration, Spydus can be configured to check if a borrower already exists in the database, and what action to take if a duplicate is found.

    Check for duplicate names

A name is considered a duplicate only if the online registrant has the exact first name(s) and surname as an existing borrower. e.g. John Smith, John A. Smith and John Adam Smith are all considered different names, and none will trigger Spydus' detection of duplicates.

    Check date of birth

The Check date of birth option will only be available if Check for duplicate names is first enabled. As such, a date of birth check will only be performed if a duplicate name match is made. If Check date of birth is enabled, then a registration will only be considered a duplicate if both name and date of birth are the same as an existing borrower.

Enable borrower creation if there are duplicates

This option determines the action that Spydus will take if a duplicate is detected. If this option is:

    Trap for duplicate borrower creation

If the Enable borrower creation if there are duplicates option is selected, this option will become available. To apply a trap to borrowers detected as duplicates, select the desired from the dropdown.

For information on creating and configuring traps, see the Borrower traps article.

    Barcode details

It is important to note that online registration does not use the same barcode generation rules as borrower registration in the Circulation module.

    Barcode length

The Barcode length is the number of digits between the leading and trailing characters.

    e.g. in the barcode AB067X;

The number between the leading and trailing characters will increment by 1 with each online registration (e.g. AB068X, AB069X, AB070X). The number can be set (or reset) by Civica staff, and once set (or reset) will continue to increment by 1.

    Leading characters for barcode

The characters at the beginning of the barcode that will be generated for online registrations. e.g. in the barcode AB067X, the leading characters are AB.

    Trailing characters for barcode

The characters at the end of the barcode that will be generated for online registrations. e.g. in the barcode AB067X, the trailing character is X.

    Check loan history

The status of this option determines whether all borrowers who register online will have the Check loan history flag either enabled or disabled. If enabled, the LOANHIST and RSVLOANHIST alerts will be displayed if a borrower attempts to loan or reserve a title that they have previously loaned.

If using this option to determine the state of the Check loan history flag, ensure that the field is hidden from the online registration form (as the borrower manually selecting the state at the point of registration will override the chosen default).

To configure the LOANHIST and RSVLOANHIST alerts to allow or disallow specific actions, see the Alerts article.

    Minimum age to register

Registration will fail if the entered date of birth calculates that the borrower is younger than the minimum age.

    Email communications

This feature requires server version 10.8 or higher.

From Spydus 10.8, it is possible to set email as the default notice delivery method for borrowers who register online at the OPAC.

    Send email

When selected, e-mail will be set as the default notice delivery preference for borrowers who register via the OPAC.

    Email to

The selected email address (borrower, employer or guarantor) will be used as the default for borrowers who register via the OPAC.

If using the Send email option to set email as the default notice delivery method, ensure that the email field is also made mandatory in Register Online Parameters.

    Successful registration message

This rich text field may contain formatted text, HTML, images, etc, and will be displayed when a borrower successfully completes registration at the OPAC.

    Enable Addressify

Addressify is an "Australian address auto-complete verification validation geocoding and parsing web service".

Checking this option to enable Addressify will reveal the Addressify API key field. To use Addressify in the online borrower registration form, simply copy and paste your valid Addressify key into this field, and Save the changes.

To purchase an Addressify key, visit addressify.com.au.

    Enable Postcode Autocompleter

This feature requires server version 10.9 or higher.

In countries where postcode lookup is supported, addresses may now be autocompleted at online borrower registration and the OPAC Update Details interface using postcode.

Currently supported countries are the United Kingdom & Singapore.
