If default branch and category are defined in the configurator, borrowers will not be able to select their preferred branch or category when registering (these fields will be absent from the registration form).
If these fields are left null in the configurator, the borrower may select :
If the library would like to apply a status or trap to borrowers who have registered online (to identify them for action, limit activity, or otherwise) specify the details here.
At the point of registration, Spydus can be configured to check if a borrower already exists in the database, and what action to take if a duplicate is found.
A name is considered a duplicate only if the online registrant has the exact first name(s) and surname as an existing borrower. e.g. John Smith, John A. Smith and John Adam Smith are all considered different names, and none will trigger Spydus' detection of duplicates.
The Check date of birth option will only be available if Check for duplicate names is first enabled. As such, a date of birth check will only be performed if a duplicate name match is made. If Check date of birth is enabled, then a registration will only be considered a duplicate if both name and date of birth are the same as an existing borrower.
This option determines the action that Spydus will take if a duplicate is detected. If this option is:
If the Enable borrower creation if there are duplicates option is selected, this option will become available. To apply a trap to borrowers detected as duplicates, select the desired from the dropdown.
It is important to note that online registration does not use the same barcode generation rules as borrower registration in the Circulation module.
The Barcode length is the number of digits between the leading and trailing characters.
e.g. in the barcode AB067X;
The characters at the beginning of the barcode that will be generated for online registrations. e.g. in the barcode AB067X, the leading characters are AB.
The characters at the end of the barcode that will be generated for online registrations. e.g. in the barcode AB067X, the trailing character is X.
The status of this option determines whether all borrowers who register online will have the Check loan history flag either enabled or disabled. If enabled, the LOANHIST and RSVLOANHIST alerts will be displayed if a borrower attempts to loan or reserve a title that they have previously loaned.
If using this option to determine the state of the Check loan history flag, ensure that the field is hidden from the online registration form (as the borrower manually selecting the state at the point of registration will override the chosen default).
To configure the LOANHIST and RSVLOANHIST alerts to allow or disallow specific actions, see the Alerts article.
Registration will fail if the entered date of birth calculates that the borrower is younger than the minimum age.
