As items and bibliographic records can be suppressed from OPAC display by a number of methods, it is important to understand which setting will take precedence over others. If the suppression options at a given level are null, then the next level will be checked, until a defined value is found.
If all levels are null, titles and items will be displayed at the OPAC.
In order of relevance;
1. Bibliographic suppression
Bibliographic records may either be suppressed or restricted.
2. Item status
If a title is not suppressed at the bibliographic level, and an item has a status applied which has the Suppress from OPAC display parameter set, this parameter will be used to determine OPAC visibility.
3. Item Maintenance
If a title is not suppressed at the bibliographic level, and its OPAC display is not determined by any applied item status, the Override OPAC filter option may be set in the Item Maintenance interface.
4. Location & sub-location
If the suppression status has not been determined via one of the preceding methods, the Override OPAC filter option on the Location's OPAC tab may be used, with a Line (or sub-) location taking preference over the Branch location level.
5. Collection
Lastly, if the suppression in not set at another level, it may be determined using the Override OPAC filter option on the Filters tab of the item Collection.
In Spydus versions prior to 10.6, options for suppressing from internal/external OPAC may be displayed. Please note that as the internal OPAC option was not being used, the function has been deprecated and the external OPAC option should be used to determine suppression.
